Malachi 1 – 4
Well, I need a good Christmas break after reading Malachi. I was listening to a blog about it, and the speaker promised that the Old Testament was not in order of preference. I think he’s a liar.
So, it’s obvious now, after everything, that we are really all just terribly sinful people. We just never ever seem to learn from our mistakes. But the thing in Malachi that struck me was even after they’d been called out on it. They still questioned God. (1:2 – “But how have you loved us?” and 1:7 – “But how have we shown contempt for your name?” There is more!)
But was it that they were genuinely blind to their sin? Or were they just ashamed that they’d been caught? I think it’s the second one, but I think that’s only because I’m like that too.
So over the holidays, let’s just try to be a bit better, get a head start on those New Year Resolutions! And instead of deflecting back towards God, just admit and let him love you, sin or not.
And of course, best of love from Germany! Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas indeed, be thinking of you all, and hopefully see you in the New Year sometime =)
