Light

I see and feel suffering in the world and sometimes wonder how I can say God is here. My words aren’t always as skilled as I’d like and well most often there really just aren’t words.

But I’ve recently had the pleasure to watch Les Miserable live and I was touched by the hope that was brought even through the massive amount of suffering.

I took from it that though there is lack of justice and mercy in the world, there is also a God that brings forth the Light that overcomes darkness, reaches out to those in need and offers itself up to bring others home.

It stands for what is right and loves with a fierceness that breaks through the circumstances and absolute hopelessness. He gives us strength.

I was heartbroken for the suffering and loss I saw, and deeply thankful for the hope that was given. Jesus is the Light that gives us a way to transform from being in a lost state to having something solid that can stand through changing circumstances. A man full of understandable hatred was transformed into a man of honour who risked his life to save others and who was able to forgive. A girl in captivity was given a home, love and security. Jesus is this. He is our Hope and Father God is our Home. His Spirit is God’s power and love working in us and through us even through our limitations. God also goes through every suffering with us – like He’s having his heart walk around outside Him, as we parents like to say.

I recently read a post quoting Isaiah 42:3 “He will not crush the weakest reed or put out a flickering candle. He will bring justice to all who have been wronged.”

Psalm 23 speaks of walking THROUGH the valley of darkness – a reminder that suffering and sorrow will end.

An unbearable load is lifted when we don’t have to carry everything on our own and when we realise that we can’t and shouldn’t handle anything on our own, but are meant to call out to God for what we need, and to show us where He wants to meet the needs of others.

In a world full of questions, injustice, suffering and lack of mercy, we have the Light that has already finished and is ready, solidly ready, the strong Rock that gives justice, mercy, loving kindness, humble honour, wisdom, redemption, comfort, strength, knowledge, Truth and peace. Nothing, nothing, nothing can stand against God’s Light and He shines that Light in us when we let Him. Hallelujah. Also, only through God is it possible for us to look beyond ourselves to love others, but He makes it possible and He is a good Daddy. He is such a good Daddy. Whoever we see today, God is their Daddy too. Amen

Thank You God. Thank You God, our Hope.
