John 11
I’m not going to lie here, but it took me a while to take in and understand today’s passage! The only way I could try to understand what was going on was to try put myself in Mary or Martha or Lazarus’ shoes, but that didn’t really help me that much because I had no idea how they felt. Like, would they be at peace? Or would they be pacing up and down?
And then it dawned on me, it doesn’t really matter how they felt at all because they trusted God, and when we put our trust in God, He is always with us. You could be having the worst day/week/month ever but in the middle of it all, God is at work. You are never abandoned or alone because He is always there no matter what.
This passage also made me think of Isaiah 55:8-9:
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
God is bigger than we can ever imagine. He knows exactly how many stars are in the sky to how many hairs are on your head. He is also mysterious and unpredictable. It’s alright to be confused or mad at him but don’t let those feelings steer you away from Him because as I said earlier, you are not alone. If you just be patient He will give you an answer or a sign or whatever, but when He thinks it’s time because everything happens for a reason and it’s all a part of his plan for you!
