Belonging Elsewhere

The following verses of the Scriptures have often been a great encouragement to me over the years, so I simply wanted to share them with you and invite you to take some time, read, and meditate on them and what they mean to you.

 Jesus said:

“Don’t let this throw you. You trust God, don’t you? Trust me. There is plenty of room for you in my Father’s home. If that weren’t so, would I have told you that I’m on my way to get a room ready for you? And if I’m on my way to get a room ready, I’ll come back and get you so you can live where I live. And you already know the road I’m taking.”

(…)

“I am the Road, also the Truth, also the Life. No one gets to the Father apart from me ( except through me)…”
John 14: 1-6 ( The Message)

But there’s more to life for us. We’re citizens of high heaven! We’re waiting the arrival of the Saviour, the Master, Jesus Christ, who will transform our earthy bodies into glorious bodies like his own. He’ll make us beautiful and whole with the same powerful skill by which he is putting everything as it should be, under and around Him.
Philippians 3:20-21 ( The Message)

Here are a few questions that might fuel reflection about the above verses…

What is it that you want to show me through your Word Lord?

What do these passages mean to me personally?

What do I imagine heaven to be like?

What other passages of the Bible, inform my idea of heaven and of being a citizen of Heaven?

Are there other sources that have been forming my thoughts around heaven?

Are these passages talking about the future or about my reality right now?

Are they important to me?

What do they reveal to me about You Lord? About your purpose for my life?

Do they inform the way I see and live my everyday life? And if so, how?

And if not, why not?
